SS Headquarters along the East River

SS Headquarters along the East River

The SS Headquarters building in New York City was a regional command center and headquarters of the Schutzstaffel (SS) the paramilitary security force of the Greater Nazi Reich. The SS is chiefly responsible for maintaining authortiy and power throughout Nazi America, and its headquarters in New York is thus a focal point for this power. Consequentlly, it is also at the center of efforts to crush the American Resistance.

Oberstgruppenführer John Smith is in charge of the headquarters, as well as the American SS as a whole.

Overview []

The SS Headquarters is located on Manhattan’s East Side along the East River, south of the Queensboro Bridge. It symbolically stands roughly where the real-life modern-day United Nations headquarters exists. Its massive concrete facade makes it easily one of the tallest buildings in New York City. The office of the Obergruppenführer is contained within the headquarters' upper levels, accessed via elevator.

History[]

Obergruppenführer John Smith conducts business within his SS Headquarters office throughout the series.

John Smith used the office for its sound proofing and privacy to meet with his wife Helen, regarding the nature of their son's illness. There, John revealed to his wife a plan to fake their son's kidnapping in South America, thereby allowing him to live a long life. After leaving the office, John made it clear that there would be no further discussion of the plan.

In season 2, as war between the Greater Nazi Reich and the Japanese Empire appeared inevitable, John Smith would meet with Chief Inspector Takeshi Kido within the headquarters. They would subsequently discuss the subject of Juliana Crain (recently granted asylum in the Reich). The meeting remained a secret, on Smith's orders.
