Rufus Sewell is an actor who plays the role of John Smith in The Man in the High Castle.

Brief History[]

Rufus Sewell was born Rufus Frederick Sewell on October 29, 1967 in Twickenham, Greater London, England. He also grew up there and always admired the skills of his father William John Frederick Sewell, known as Bill, who died in 1978.

After his father's death, Rufus moved with his mother Jo and his brother Caspar to Pelican, Laugharne, Carmarthenshire. He completed his acting training at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He made his theater debut in 1992 in the play Making It Better, for which he was awarded Best Newcomer at the 1992 London Critics' Circle Theater Awards.

After that, things went a little quieter for Sewell, before he began to appear regularly in film and series productions in 2001. In 2011 he appeared as Adam in the film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." Before that, he attracted attention in "A Knight's Tale."

Between 2016 and 2017, Sewell starred as Lord Melbourne in the historical series "Victoria." At the same time, he played a leading role in the series "The Man in the High Castle" on Prime Video. In 2018, he took on a guest role in the Amazon series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," for which he received an Emmy nomination for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2019.

In his private life, Rufus was married to Yasmin Abdallah from 1999 to 2000. In 2002, he became the father of a son named William Douglas Sewell. He married his mother, Amy Gardner, in 2004. However, the marriage ended in divorce in 2006. In 2010, Sewell entered into a relationship with Ami Komai. The two have a daughter together named Lola.
