Hey there, hope all is well. It's been a great year around Fandom with lots of updates. Will like to leave you update once more before the year ends about an update on Featured Videos if you haven't read it yet. Basically, they will be replaced by The Loop, which are vertical specific mini-shows. These will also help promote wikis within the vertical unlike the pre-exisiting featured videos.
And if you'd like a recap of the year Fandom has had, feel free to read about it here!
As you probably know, the final season is coming up tomorrow. I could not find any promotional photos like the ones you requested.
Is there anything else I could help with over the weekend? One thing I had in mind is creating a discussions for each episode of the final season then include a CTA (call to action) module on each page leading users to the discussions. It would be a custom made one so it's fixed on those specific episode discussions. It would look like something on The Unlisted Wiki for example.
Hey there, and no worries. The Discussions idea sounds good if you'd like to add them (not sure how much time I'll have to participate in them myself though).
Otherwise, I've got no specific plans other than cross-referencing the cast and character appearances for each episode, as well as the usual post-categorization after the influx of contributors the series brings. I was hoping to have the episode names by now (I was only able to find the first half of the season), but I guess I'll just be adding them tomorrow.
Great! I'll try to get them up in the early hours of tomorrow morning (PST).
Is there any aspects of the main page you'd also like updated? The one on The Unlisted which I linked has lots of aspects from best practices with more focus on the content. One thing from it was that the carousel actually hasn't proven to be user friendly and there is more focus on the content without it. Is it something you'd still like to keep? Or would you be ok with me helping updating the main page for better focus? I could always do a design on my sandbox wiki and let you take a look.
And recently many wikis have been using Discord adding a widget for it on the wiki. Is that something you're willing to explore?
Lastly, since a good handful of users navigate through the top navigation, perhaps adding a season four link to it can help add focus to the season also.
Here is some stuff on my sandbox. Still need to make some adjustments here and there also, and if implemented, the video section of course would be the current ones on the mainpage. Ignore the current font, as I'm still looking for a related font that can be used via CSS. It's been difficult to find Halja, as the only import is an illuminated version. We could always use the current one but it's typically better to use text rather than graphical headers.
For the discussion, I did limit it to first 3 and last 3, but maybe even first and final 2 as it was quite long with the 10 episodes.
The only suggestions I'd have would be to still keep some of the things from the current design and work them into this one, like the policies and spoiler notices from the top (maybe in the "About the Wiki" section). We could also have a discussion for all 10 episodes and maybe use a scrollbox to help cut back on the length of it. And no worries on the font, as I'd still like to put the headers I created to use.
That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'll let you know more if I can.
Thanks! I've gone ahead and replaced the content on the main page, making a couple minor adjustments. Since I'm not sure how to directly edit the template class, would you mind changing the red color in places to match the darker version of red I had before?
"Ruined" is a bit of an exaggeration, wouldn't you say? Regardless, I said I would give them time to present the source of the image, and since he has yet to do so, I've already gone and reverted the changes.
Right now, outside of linking more videos from Primes official YouTube channel, I'm not sure there is much else of significance to add until we get more information (such as episodes titles). I am curious in regards to the character promos that are featured on the front page. The ones currently used are from Season 2, as Season 3 didn't appear to have any. If there any available for the upcoming season, I'd like to get those updated as soon as I can.
In regards to your second question, while I usually try to keep redirects to a minimum, I'm not opposed to using them for characters who go by their last name if users are having difficulties finding the page otherwise.
Additionally, I currently can't find photos for season 4 yet aside from the poster but typically characters portraits would be released 2-3 weeks before a season anyways, so I'll check back closer to the airdate!
Is there anything you'd like to happen once the final season airs?
I don't have any specific plans for the primere date, but once I finish watching it myself, I've been wanting to do some final cleaning up and organization regarding articles and media files, and seeing if there's a way to get more stub articles with the necessary information.
Come now, Eugene. How practical do you think it would be if we indiscriminately listed every single location on here just because it was shown on a map or mentioned in passing? Even places that act as general settings for the show still need enough significant show-relevant information to even be considered worth adding.
If we added every single non-relevant piece of information on here, the wiki would become a cluttered mess. (some of it still is, unfortunately, which I hope to help clean up once the show has ended (mostly with the images)). I apologize if I've been agitating you with all of this, but I'd prefer not to fight you on it anymore.
I don't doubt your honesty here, that's not the issue.
I think it might be a good idea to adapt some guidelines based on what I've brought up in our last few discussions (take a look at the Policies page I created a while back as well if you'd like). Outside of heavily significant locations, you'll really need to consider if something is show-relevant enough to be mentioned, let alone create an article for it. This goes for all other types of subjects too, like characters.
That is true, but my main concern is being able to list enough information regarding its show-relevant background and significant events that have happened there in the show itself. You don't need to do this immediately, but if you could provide a decent amount of that information to put in the article, we can restore it.
Did you mean season 3? Like I stated with your post about D.C., we can reassess the information once the series comes to a close. Since it makes its appearance in season 3, however, I'm asking if we have enough relevant information on it right now to warrant its restoration. Otherwise, there shouldn't be an issue keeping it as a sub-section for the moment.
I was just in the middle of moving that article (and the article for Cincinnati) to a new sub-section on the Nazi America article, as part of an on-going attempt to group minor topics that don't need their own article.
We can approach this again once the new season (and series) has ended and reassess whether it could still warrant its own article.
Hey Hathomirr, in case you haven't read the Community Central blog from earlier this week, Fandom officially announced the Editor Rewards program. Fandom has been looking for ways to give back to users for the work they've done. Recently they have done things such as buy movie tickets, or offer products from their favorite fandoms. Stay tuned as perhaps you, your co-admins, or other contributors for this wiki may even be eligible!
If you have any questions, feel free to comment on the blog so the Editor Experience team can answer directly.
