Season Two

Ed worked together with the Kempeitai to get information about the Yakuza. In the end of the Season he flew to the no mans land in the hope to find Juliana. On one occasion while he was talking with his friend Frank to try to convince him to go to New York, he (Frank) tells him that they would kill him there for being a Jew to which Ed replies that he would go alone and then Frank tells him that people like he too are killed. Ed is later revealed to be gay.

Season Three

Ed is revealed to be a homosexual during the time he spends in the neutral zone, which under the Nazi Reich was punishable by death and repressed in the Pacific States.
