The Black Communist Rebellion, known by its abbreviation BCR is a communist and a Black Nationalist organization founded by Equiano Hampton, which sought to achieve a sovereign state for African-Americans in the Japanese Pacific States.
History[]
Background[]
The exact time the movement was founded is never specified, but is implied to have been started in the late 1950's to early 1960's in Oakland, California, Japanese Pacific States. It received support from communist rebels in China, who were also at the time engaging in open rebellion against the Japanese Empire.
Season Four[]
The BCR, unlike the American Resistance, did not initially engage in guerilla warfare against the occupiers, and throughout its existence was mostly a support network for Black people in the Pacific States and Neutral Zone, hence its lack of mention and appearance in previous seasons. However, following the assassination of Nobusuke Tagomi, which was blamed on the African Americans, the Kempeitai began a massive crackdown on the Black population of the Pacific States, prompting the BCR to engage in an open insurgency against the Japanese.
The BCR had built a massive underground weapons industry, manufacturing Chinese assault rifles and handguns for their own use. Facing successive defeats after the Nazi invasion of the Neutral Zone, Wyatt Price of the American Resistance requests weapons from the BCR in exchange for a joint operation to kill Japanese general Ryuu Masada, and two Japanese ministers sent by the Imperial Court during an auction hosted by Robert Childan. The BCR try to back away when the Kempeitai discover the conspiracy, but the Resistance nonetheless goes on with the plan, and kills the targets, losing several men in the process. The high profile assassination is blamed on the BCR, prompting the Crown Princess to send Imperial Japanese Navy Admiral Inokuchi to negotiate with Hampton. The BCR find out that the two ministers were sent by the Crown Princess to take part in the negotiations. Inokuchi refuses the main demand of the BCR of setting up an autonomous area for the Black population, but leaves on good terms. However, the Kempeitai ambush the meeting, kill Hampton, and arrest Inokuchi.
With Hampton dead, the young Bell Mallory takes over as leader of the movement, and the BCR plan on bombing an oil vessel and the critical infrastructure of the Japanese Pacific State. The attacks were a success, and within days, Emperor Hirohito announces the Japanese withdrawal from America and the disbandment of the Pacific States. Following the Japanese withdrawal, the BCR took over several Japanese buildings and began administering the Western States along with the American Resistance.
Ideology[]
The BCR wanted to create a communist republic where they would be free from the racial discrimination and persecution they faced from the Greater Nazi Reich and the Japanese Empire.
With memories of slavery and Jim Crow still fresh, the BCR distrusted the American Resistance (primarily made up of white and Hispanic people), and even at one point considered leaving the Resistance members to die when their cover was blown during their operation to assassinate General Ryuu Masuda. This is further enforced by the fact that they refused to allow Wehrmacht defectors from taking part in any significant jobs, and gave them menial duties like dish washing. They also disliked the erstwhile United States due to the history of slavery and segregation.
Following the Japanese withdrawal, the BCR began collaborating with other resistance groups to defend the Western States against a Nazi invasion which would eventually be aborted following the death of John Smith.
